Safe Church Communities

Our Safe Church Communities Program is a program of training and endorsement to ensure that church workers are supported in their roles and have the skills and knowledge to contribute significantly to the development of safe and healthy church communities.

Are you working with children and/or young people?

You will need to be endorsed through ChildSafe.

What is ChildSafe?

ChildSafe is a product which provides standards, guidelines and training materials for people working with children, young people and families. As a broad set of standards, ChildSafe seeks to address core issues in safety and care. It is used nationally by Scripture Union and in a range of church organisations. It has also been developed in consultation with the National Council of Churches Safe Church Project Training Agreement.

ChildSafe provides training at three levels and participants undertake training at the level appropriate to the role they have - Team Member, Team Leader or Coordinator.

If you want to find out more, visit www.childsafe.org.au.

Are you involved in a lay leadership role in your parish?

In line with the vision of the Diocese to maintain Safe Church Communities, we are aiming to have all those in parish lay leadership roles familiar with and committed to Faithfulness in Service.

What is Faithfulness in Service?

This code is intended to identify the personal behaviour and practices of pastoral ministry that will enable clergy and church workers to serve faithfully those among whom they minister. If the behaviour and practices it outlines are followed, our communities will be safer places for everyone, where integrity is honoured, accountability is practised and forgiveness encourages healing and does not conceal misconduct.
