Tasmanian Anglican Rural Community Development Project

The Tasmanian Anglican Rural Community Development Project is a partnership between the Diocese of Tasmania, Bush Church Aid Australia and Tasmanian Rural Parishes.

The primary aim of the project is to enable the fulfilment of the Bishop's Diocesan Vision for us ...

to create together a caring, sustainable and growing Christian presence in every part of Tasmania.

The project partners are committed to creating these things 'together'. The strength and resilience of rural communities is more than folklore. It is a reality.

The Anglican Rural Community Development Project's primary strategy is to enable the contribution of Christian people within their communities.

Its aim is to establish local communities of faith whose members do the following things in an intentional and disciplined manner: 'pray together, listen to God's voice speaking through the Bible, share their joys and sorrows, study the context in which they find themselves, seek to discern and live out their call as God's people, develop new local leadership and engage in common ministry and mission'.

The project seeks to serve communities who are facing some mix of these types of experiences.

  • Difficulties in maintaining basic ministries.
  • A desire for a rethink of mission and ministry.
  • Increasing dependence on financial reserves.
  • More talk about money and fund raising than community and caring.
  • A need for help in getting new ideas or activities off the ground.
