A former film-maker and fine arts teacher, Meredith Campbell, is to be ordained as a Priest in the Anglican Church in Tasmania.
Ms Campbell spent 5 years as a fine arts teacher in an Aboriginal boarding college in Alice Springs, as well as teaching Art and Drama in Melbourne. She won the Northern Territory Art Award for a painting in 1991, and worked on the production of award-winning short films and a children's TV series.
She was also involved in Christian arts and film in Melbourne. Meredith enjoys using the arts in Christian ministry, and hopes to continue that as the Assistant in her parish at Kingston.
Meredith said, 'I came to Tasmania last year and fell in love with the place. I'm excited about working with the people in the church and community here.'
She will be ordained by Bishop John Harrower on Saturday 22 February at St David's Cathedral, Hobart. Also to be ordained Priest are David Wilkins and Brian Eccles, who are both a part of Local Ministry Teams in southern rural parishes. Chris Stafferton will be ordained Deacon, and is appointed to lead the parish of Latrobe.
Bishop Harrower said, 'It's wonderful to see the variety and strength of leadership which continues to rejuvenate the church throughout Tasmania.
The Ordination will take place at St David's Cathedral, Macquarie St, Hobart, beginning at 10am.
