Bishop celebrates five years
25 July 2005
The Anglican Bishop of Tasmania, the Right Reverend John Harrower, is today celebrating 5 years as Bishop of Tasmania.
Bishop Harrower would be pleased to do interviews looking back over those 5 years and talking of his plans and vision for the Church in coming years.
Some of the highlights and significant issues over those years include:
- travelling to all parts of Tasmania and meeting the wonderful people in those diverse local communities
- addressing the particular challenges facing Tasmanian rural communities, and helping the church develop new models of ministry
- equipping the church to transform itself for the 21st Century (see the link to the vision statement below)
- dealing with the issues surrounding sexual abuse by former priests, building a framework to offer support to victims and to create a healthy and safe church culture for the future
- speaking out on current issues ranging from refugees, to industrial relations, to domestic violence
- enjoying the beauty of Tasmanian living with his wife Gayelene
